There is a mystery to Lowcountry ponds. The water is opaque and often spotted with plant life and algae and there is always the chance an alligator may be lurking somewhere in the depths. They act as huge mirrors within the landscape. This reflection is what caught my eye. By framing a small section of the pond’s surface and removing the contextual information of surrounding scenery the images take on an abstract, dream-like quality.
